Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making Drivzu accessible to everyone.
1.Our Commitment
Drivzu is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone should be able to find and book driving lessons easily, regardless of ability.
We are working to comply with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the relevant Irish transposing legislation. Our target standard is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We continually review and improve our platform to remove barriers and ensure an inclusive experience for all users.
2.Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
Drivzu is working towards full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Working towards" means that we have assessed our platform against the WCAG criteria, have identified areas for improvement, and are actively making changes to achieve full conformance.
We conduct regular accessibility audits and testing to monitor our progress. Where we identify issues, we prioritise them based on their impact on users and work to resolve them as quickly as possible.
3.Accessibility Features
Drivzu includes the following accessibility features:
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements on the platform can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible to show which element is currently selected.
- Screen reader support: Our pages are built using semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to ensure compatibility with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast ratios. We do not rely on colour alone to convey information.
- Resizable text: All text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality using browser zoom controls.
- Voice interface: Our AI voice assistant provides an alternative to the visual user interface for searching instructors and booking lessons. This can be particularly helpful for users who find traditional web forms difficult to use.
- Form labels and instructions: All form fields have associated labels and, where appropriate, instructions and error messages that clearly explain what is required.
- Alternative text: Images include descriptive alternative text so that screen reader users can understand non-text content.
- Consistent navigation: Navigation is consistent across pages to help users predict where to find information and how to interact with the platform.
4.Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of the Drivzu platform may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Map interfaces: Interactive maps used for instructor location display may have limited screen reader support. We provide text-based alternatives where possible.
- Third-party content: Some content provided by third parties (such as payment forms from Stripe) may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We work with our providers to improve accessibility where possible.
- Older PDF documents: Some downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to convert these to accessible formats.
We aim to address these limitations progressively. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us (see Section 7) so we can assist you and prioritise improvements.
5.Technologies
The Drivzu platform is built using the following technologies, which support accessibility:
- HTML5: Semantic markup for document structure and meaning.
- CSS: Responsive styling that adapts to different screen sizes and user preferences (including reduced motion and high contrast).
- JavaScript (React): Dynamic interactions built with accessibility in mind, including focus management and live region announcements.
- WAI-ARIA: Accessible Rich Internet Applications attributes to enhance the accessibility of dynamic content and custom components.
Tested Browsers
We test accessibility with the following browser and assistive technology combinations:
- Google Chrome with NVDA (Windows)
- Mozilla Firefox with NVDA (Windows)
- Safari with VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
- Google Chrome with TalkBack (Android)
- Microsoft Edge with Narrator (Windows)
6.Voice Agent Accessibility
Our AI voice assistant is designed with accessibility in mind:
- Voice as alternative input: The voice interface provides an alternative to visual browsing and form-based booking. Users can search for instructors, check availability, and initiate bookings entirely through speech.
- Screen reader compatibility: The web interface for the voice assistant (including controls to start, stop, and manage voice sessions) is accessible via screen readers and keyboard navigation.
- Visual feedback: The voice interface includes visual indicators of conversation state (listening, processing, speaking) that complement the audio experience.
- Text alternatives: Users who cannot use the voice interface can always book lessons through the standard web interface or by contacting us directly.
