Gift Voucher Terms
Terms governing the purchase, redemption, and use of Drivzu gift vouchers.
1.Overview
Drivzu gift vouchers allow you to purchase credit that can be redeemed for driving lessons with RSA-approved instructors on the Drivzu platform. Gift vouchers make an ideal gift for anyone preparing to learn to drive.
These Gift Voucher Terms are governed by the Consumer Protection (Gift Vouchers) Act 2019 (the "Act"). Where any provision of these terms conflicts with the Act, the Act prevails.
By purchasing or redeeming a Drivzu gift voucher, you agree to these terms.
2.Validity Period
In accordance with the Consumer Protection (Gift Vouchers) Act 2019:
- All Drivzu gift vouchers have a minimum validity period of 5 years from the date of purchase. This is a mandatory requirement under Irish law and cannot be reduced.
- The expiry date is clearly stated on the voucher at the time of purchase and in the confirmation email.
- If no expiry date is stated on the voucher, it defaults to 5 years from the date of purchase.
- After the expiry date, the voucher cannot be redeemed and no refund will be issued for any unused balance unless required by law.
3.How to Use
Redeeming your Drivzu gift voucher is straightforward:
- Gift vouchers can be redeemed for any driving lesson available on the Drivzu platform, regardless of instructor, location, or lesson type.
- To redeem, enter your voucher code at checkout when booking a lesson. The voucher balance will be applied to the total cost.
- A voucher can be used across one or multiple transactions. You do not need to use the full value in a single booking.
- If the lesson cost exceeds the voucher balance, you can pay the remaining amount using any accepted payment method.
- Gift vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be used to purchase other gift vouchers.
4.Partial Redemption
You are under no obligation to spend the full value of your gift voucher in a single transaction:
- Any remaining balance after a transaction is retained on your voucher and tracked in your Drivzu account for future use.
- You can check your voucher balance at any time through your account settings or by contacting support.
- In accordance with the Act, if the remaining balance on your voucher is greater than €1 after a redemption, Drivzu must offer you the option of a refund of the remaining balance. You may choose either to retain the balance for future use or to receive a refund.
5.Name Changes
Under the Consumer Protection (Gift Vouchers) Act 2019, you have the right to change the name on a gift voucher at no charge:
- There is no fee for transferring a gift voucher to a different recipient. This is a mandatory right under Irish law.
- To change the name on a voucher, contact our support team at support@drivzu.ie with the voucher code and the new recipient's name.
- The new recipient must create a Drivzu account (if they do not already have one) to redeem the voucher.
6.Refunds
Gift vouchers are generally non-refundable. However, refunds may be issued in the following circumstances:
- Statutory right: As noted in Section 4, if the remaining balance on your voucher exceeds €1 after a redemption, you are entitled to a refund of the remaining balance in accordance with the Act.
- Service unavailability: If the service for which the voucher was purchased becomes permanently unavailable (for example, if Drivzu ceases operations), we will make reasonable efforts to offer alternative arrangements or issue a refund for any unused balance.
- Defective vouchers: If a voucher is defective or cannot be redeemed due to a technical error on our part, we will replace the voucher or issue a refund.
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used to purchase the voucher, unless otherwise agreed.
7.Lost or Stolen
If your gift voucher is lost, stolen, or damaged, please take the following steps:
- Contact our support team at support@drivzu.ie as soon as possible with your proof of purchase (e.g., order confirmation email, payment receipt).
- We will investigate and, where possible, issue a replacement voucher for the remaining balance. A replacement may be subject to verification of the original purchase.
- Drivzu is not liable for vouchers that are redeemed by unauthorised third parties before the loss or theft is reported to us.
- We recommend treating your gift voucher code like cash and keeping it secure.
8.Consumer Rights
Your statutory rights as a consumer are fully protected. In particular:
- Any term in these Gift Voucher Terms that is contrary to the Consumer Protection (Gift Vouchers) Act 2019 is not binding on the consumer. The Act provides minimum standards that cannot be reduced by contract.
- You have the right to a minimum 5-year validity period, free name changes, and a refund of remaining balances over €1 after partial redemption.
- Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.
If you believe your consumer rights have not been respected, you can contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) or email us at legal@drivzu.ie.
